When Katie first reached out to me regarding her Mount Airy Mansion wedding, she mentioned that she loved “how natural and beautiful your photos look – . . . all of your photos seem so natural and not forced!” I was so flattered! I love working with couples who appreciate natural looking wedding photography. It is always my goal to capture a wedding day as it unfolds and not force anything! So, Katie and Matt’s wedding was no different.
Katie and Matt’s Mount Airy Mansion wedding was a classic affair due to the sophisticated wedding decor. This wedding featured decor with lots of ivory and greenery and gold accents. The bride wore a gorgeous Pronovias wedding gown.
The bride described the theme of wedding as follows: “Our theme is a bit eclectic. The venue is an old mansion and is somewhat traditional, but we are having organic, free form flower arrangements and are having fairly minimalistic decor. We like that the space is surrounded by lots of grass and trees and feels close to nature.”
Also, the historic grounds have so many nooks and different backgrounds to try out. As a result, this venue makes for great wedding photography opportunities. Finally, the expert coordination by Alesha of Capitol Romance kept the day running smoothly.
First of all, Katie and the girls got ready in a large suite with tons of windows, while Matt got ready in a gentlemen’s lounge downstairs. Then, the ceremony was held outside with a gorgeous, wooded backdrop. There was some uncertainty about whether the ceremony would be outside because it almost rained. However, the weather held off long enough for the ceremony.
During Katie and Matt’s Mount Airy Mansion wedding ceremony, a butterfly landed on the hem of Katie’s gown. Butterflies can represent many symbols. First, butterflies can represent endurance and change. Also, butterflies can represent hope and life. Therefore, the butterfly was absolutely a perfect and fitting visitor for Katie and Matt’s big day.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside at Mt. Airy Mansion. Then, guests toasted the bride and groom and danced to the couple’s favorite songs, including “Shout” and “Rosalita.”
