Josephine Butler Parks Center Wedding

I had photographed Emily’s friend’s wedding at Woodend Sanctuary a few years ago. Upon her recommendation, Emily reached out to me to capture her Josephine Butler Parks Center wedding. I was so happy for the recommendation because I love to photograph former client’s friends and family.

First of all, Emily and Jonah held their Josephine Butler Parks Center wedding in DC over Memorial Day weekend. Secondly, it was a joy to photograph their interfaith ceremony combining Jewish and Catholic traditions. A priest and a cantor presided over their wedding ceremony. Also, the couple’s ceremony featured a chuppah. A chuppah is a Jewish wedding canopy signifying many symbols, including the couple’s home.

Furthermore, prior to walking down the aisle, the couple signed a ketubah. On their ketubah, the couple inscribed their own beautiful vows: “Our love is, and will continue to be, stronger than anything we face. We will be partners forever.”

Sadly, Emily’s father is no longer with us. For that reason, Emily’s mother walked her down the aisle. Emily and her mom–whose name is Rosemary–shared a joyful mother-daughter dance to the song “Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)” by Edison Lighthouse. All of the guests were smiling and cheering because this song is so sentimental to the couple and the mother of the bride.

Josephine Butler Parks Center is right across the street from Meridian Hill Park. So, it was only natural that we took some photos at Meridian Hill Park.

Finally, this Josephine Butler Parks Center wedding came together as a result of some of my favorite vendors. For example, pay special attention to the gorgeous flowers by Love Blooms. They are one of my favorite florists for weddings. They are always professional with beautiful flowers. Also, the Bachelor Boys Band sounded great and kept all of the guests on the dance floor.
