~ Julia & Mike | November 3, 2017 ~
Julia and Mike’s District Winery wedding was one of the first weddings to be held at this new venue. District Winery is located right by the water in Yards Park. While there are many rural wineries around DC, District Winery is very unique given its urban setting.
Before their ceremony, the couple got ready at the Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, DC. This boutique hotel is elegant and charming. Also, the staff were so friendly and allowed us to use temporary hooks to get a photo of the bride’s wedding gown against the gray wall. Furthermore, the lobby features a marble coffee table perfect for beautiful flat-lay photographs of the wedding invitation suite, magenta flowers, and wedding rings.
The race distribution was 89% White, 7% Black, 3% Hispanic, 1% other, and <1% Asian. After you use EVAMIST • Place the plastic cover back on the EVAMIST applicator cone. While Julia and Mike were getting ready, they exchanged touching cards and scrapbooks of their relationship. These two have been through so much together. Whenever one travels for work, the other leaves welcome notes upon their return. Having all these notes compiled in a scrapbook made a very touching wedding gift.
Then, the couple headed off to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial for a first look filled with tears. First looks are such a wondering wedding idea. They allow you to spend more time with your fiancé on your wedding day, can calm nerves, and also give you more freedom over your timeline. After the first look, we all headed over to District Winery!
During the ceremony, Julia carried a gorgeous wine colored bouquet with special charms featuring pictures of loved ones who have passed on.
Then, the couple passed their wedding rings around to their guests in a ring warming ceremony. This is a touching ritual where guests are asked to hold the couple’s rings for a moment and bless them or say a prayer over them.
The venue served cocktails outside on the terrace. Because Julia and Mike are politically minded, the coasters featured fun political facts. For example, did you know that when Michelle and Barack Obama worked at the same law firm in Chicago, she was his mentor? He asked her out several times before she accepted.
The terrace displayed magenta and gold decorations, while guests enjoyed a wide selection of charcuterie, cheese, and olives. One of the great things about District Winery weddings is that the venue offers fabulous food!
After guests sat for dinner at long table covered in while linens with magenta and gold accents, the couple entered. The bride and groom shared their first dance to the song “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake. “I’m looking right at the other half of me / The vacancy that sat in my heart / Is a space that now you hold.”
The night ended with a few portraits outside next to the glowing, sparkling winery.
