Amy and Derek married in an intimate, laid-back wedding at the beautiful Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, DC. Family and friends traveled from all over the world to see them get married in the rotunda. After the ceremony, guests were treated to coffee and cronuts in the study. (Oh my gosh, I had to type c r o n u t s seven times because wordpress kept changing it to “cornets.”)
The Carnegie Institution is such a wonderful venue for a wedding because there are so many different backdrops. The rotunda, library, and study are all beautiful and can be further decorated by the couple. For example, at this wedding, the couple decorated the library of the Carnegie Institution with an oversized, lighted sign of their wedding hashtag. The hashtag featured the couple’s initials.
Amy and Derek wanted lots of candid photographs (which I love to take!), but I ended up loving their posed portraits as well because of the effortless and natural way they interacted with each other.
